Keyes Beach Closed In Barnstable For Water Quality Issue

Pet advisories have also been issued at two area ponds this week.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A Barnstable beach is closed and pets shouldn't swim in two ponds after water samples were returned this week.

Keyes Beach is closed for swimming due to an exceedance for Enterococci, town officials announced. Beach closure signage is posted and re-samples were collected Tuesday. Those results are expected back on Thursday.

A pet advisory remains posted at Lovells Pond in Cotuit due to confirmed cyanobacteria in the scum sample. The pond will be sampled and retested next week as part of seasonal pond and lake water quality monitoring, officials said.
