Here are the openings and closings to keep in mind as you celebrate the de facto end of summer.
BARNSTABLE, MA — As the pools close and kids head back to school, summer unofficially comes to an end over Labor Day weekend. As you have your summer send-off barbecues, many services will be taking a break for the holiday weekend.
Here's a list of what's open and closed on Labor Day.
- Retail stores: Open at owner's discretion
- Liquor stores: Open
- Supermarkets: Open
- Convenience stores: Open
- Restaurants, bars: Open
- Banks: Closed
- Libraries: Closed
- Stock market: Closed
- Municipal, state, federal offices: Closed
- Mail: Post offices closed; express delivery only
- MBTA: Sunday schedule
- Trash Collection: Delayed one day (Monday collection bumped to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, etc.)
