Lifeguards Leaving Barnstable Beaches As Summer Winds Down

Lifeguards will no longer be at three beaches by the end of this weekend. Here's what to know.

BARNSTABLE, MA — The summer season is winding down, which means lifeguards will no longer be staffed at some beaches in Barnstable moving forward.

By this end of this week, three beaches will no longer be staffed with lifeguard, town officials announced.

Loop Beach and Veteran's Beach are currently not staffed with lifeguards, and Kalmus Beach won't have lifeguards on duty as of Sunday.

By Aug. 24, Dowses Beach won't have lifeguards on duty, followed by Covell's Beach as of Aug. 28.

Town officials said they do anticipate having Craigville Beach staffed through Labor Day.

Those beaches will continue to have gate attendants throughout the remainder of the season, officials said.
