Man Airlifted From Cruise Ship Off Cape Cod

The man was flown from a Norwegian Escape cruise liner over the weekend after an apparent stroke.

NANTUCKET, MA – Coast Guard crews airlifted an elderly man from a cruise ship off the coast of Nantucket Saturday after a medical emergency, the agency said. The crew of the Norwegian Escape called the Coast Guard around 5 p.m., and a helicopter flew the man and a nurse to Rhode Island Hospital at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The 78-year-old passenger had suffered an apparent stroke, according to the Coast Guard. He was in stable condition when he arrived at the hospital.
