Man Caught With Bomb At Hyannis Group Home: Police

Homeless Not Hopeless​, a group home in Hyannis, had to be cleared out, when police discovered a bomb inside one of the bedrooms.

HYANNIS, MA — A Hyannis man was arrested Tuesday morning after police said he was caught with a bomb at a group home on Baxter Road.

Around 6 a.m., police were called to Homeless Not Hopeless after a report a resident had a bomb in the building. After moving everyone to safety, police said they discovered there was a bomb in a bedroom belonging to Dorian Firth, 40.

Barnstable police conducted a search warrant with the help of the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad, State Police detectives and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Firth was arrested and charged with possession of incendiary materials and felony possession of an incendiary device.

After collecting evidence, the Bomb Squad took the explosive and detonated it in a controlled environment.
