Man Indicted In Alleged Indecent Assault Of Child On Cape Cod

The former youth football coach also faces child rape and child porn charges in federal and Hingham courts.

YARMOUTH, MA – A Barnstable grand jury has indicted a former Norwell youth football coach on a charge of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. Derek Sheehan, 48, has also been accused of child rape and having child porn in federal and Hingham courts.

Sheehan's indictment in Barnstable District Court moves the case to Superior Court. The charge stems from an alleged incident on Sept. 3, 2017 in Yarmouth, according to the Cape Cod Times.

Norwell police began investigating Sheehan in June after a child alleged an indecent assault in another town in August 2017, the Patriot Ledger reported.

Sheehan's home was searched Aug. 17, and police seized his electronics. Pornographic images of children were found on Sheehan's cell phone, and his external hard drive had hours of video of him sexually assaulting young boys, police said.

A man later reported to Norwell police that his 13-year-old son had also been sexually assaulted by Sheehan, according to the Patriot Ledger.
