Man Loses Part Of Leg In Cape Cod Wood Chipper Accident

A landscaper was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he got trapped in a wood chipper Friday morning.

YARMOUTH, MA – A landscaper lost part of his leg in a wood chipper accident on Cape Cod Friday morning, police said. Officers in Yarmouth were called to Highbank Road around 9:50 a.m. and found the man "bleeding profusely" and being treated by his coworkers.

The victim, who police identified as a "young man," had gotten trapped in the wood chipper, according to police. He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis with life-threatening injuries.

A Medflight helicopter was requested but could not fly due to the weather, police said.
