Man Secretly Videotaped Woman At Cape Cod Resort: Police

An employee of the resort was fired after he was accused of placing a hidden camera in the shower of the women's locker room.

YARMOUTH, MA – A Yarmouth man is accused of using a hidden camera to secretly record a woman at a local resort. The camera was discovered in the shower of the women's locker room by a couple staying at the resort, police said.

The woman noticed a black charger plugged into the wall near the sink and found a small hole in one of the drop-ceiling tiles in the corner of the shower, according to police. She saw a blinking blue light and moved the ceiling tile, causing a camera to fall out, police said.

The woman asked the front desk to call the police. Anthony Mendes, 25, who worked at the front desk, overheard the conversation and took the camera and charger, according to police.

Surveillance footage from a camera facing the women's bathroom showed Mendes enter the workout area, go into the women's bathroom and close the door behind him, police said. He emerged about 20 minutes later and looked around before going back into the bathroom, leaving the door open, according to police.

Police found Mendes in his girlfriend's car and pulled the couple over on Old Townhouse Road. He was arrested and charged with misleading to obstruct justice by tampering with evidence and secret video recording/electronic surveillance of partial nudity.
