Cape Cod Marine Victim Of Fatal Cotuit Crash
A combat veteran was struck head-on while driving home from the hospital, where his wife had given birth days before.

COTUIT, MA – A combat veteran from Mashpee was identified as one of the two fatalities in a head-on crash in Cotuit Saturday morning. Kevin Quinn, a 32-year-old Marine who served two tours in Afghanistan, was on his way home from visiting his wife in the hospital, according to a GoFundMe page set up for the family. Quinn's wife, Kara, had given birth days earlier.
Quinn's 2012 GMC SUV and a 2000 Toyota sedan collided on Rt. 28 East around 12:14 a.m. The sedan split in half and caught fire; both people inside were thrown from the car.
The sedan's driver, 22-year-old Mickey Rivera, of Fall River, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, 24-year-old Jocelyn Goyette, of New Bedford, remained in a Boston hospital in critical condition Sunday, the Cape Cod Times reported.

Quinn was extricated from his car using the Jaws of Life and taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Scanner reports around the time of the crash indicate a police officer had begun pursuing a sedan for erratic operation, speeding, a marked lanes violation and stop sign violations, according to the Times. The events leading up to the fatal collision are under investigation.
