Mass Maritime Cadet Died From Pre-Existing Condition, Was Set To Graduate This Spring

The cadet was identified as New York native Amanda Robinson. She was 22.

BOURNE, MA — The Massachusetts Maritime Academy cadet who died in her dorm room last week has been identified, along with a cause of death.

Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois shared that officials responded to the dorms in Bourne at 9:42 a.m. on April 19, where the student was found dead.

She was identified as 22-year-old Amanda Robinson of Bellmore, New York.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Robinson, a senior at MMA set to graduate this spring, passed as a result of a pre-existing medical condition. Foul play is not suspected.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner accepted jurisdiction and will perform an autopsy.
