Memorial Day Parade In Barnstable Pivots To Indoor Ceremony
The Memorial Day celebration in the village of Centerville will take place inside the church where the parade was to begin.
BARNSTABLE, MA — The town’s Memorial Day Parade, scheduled for the Monday holiday at 10 a.m. in Centerville, has been canceled due to an inclement weather forecast.
The parade’s organizer, the Centerville Civic Association, will instead hold a ceremony inside South Congregational Church, 565 Main St. – where the parade was scheduled to begin.
The ceremony is also slated for 10 a.m., and veterans who planned to march in the parade will be at the church for the indoor event, according to a public notice late Sunday.

Like the parade, the ceremony will recognize brave men and women of the U.S. armed forces who died in service to their country.
