Minke Whale Washes Ashore On Cape Cod
Officials used a forklift to carry an adult minke whale from a Cape Cod beach Thursday.

EASTHAM, MA — A dead minke whale washed ashore on a Cape Cod beach Thursday. The whale was reported at Campground Beach in Eastham shortly after 9 a.m. It was previously seen floating off Sesuit Harbor in Dennis Wednesday, according to the Cape Cod Times.
The 24-foot-long adult female is a rarity; officials told the Times most minke whales that strand are juveniles. Officials and the International Fund for Animal Welfare used a forklift to carry the whale from the beach.
A necropsy is planned to determine what caused the whale's death.
