Motorcyclist Dies After Fleeing Cape Cod Police Stop
The motorcycle driver crashed into another car after driving away from a potential traffic stop. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
HYANNIS, MA — A motorcycle driver is dead after fleeing a traffic stop and hitting another car in Cape Cod over the weekend, Barnstable police announced.
At approximately 1:41 p.m. on Sunday, a Barnstable Police Department patrol officer attempted to pull a motorcycle over for a traffic violation on Route 28 near Garden Lane in Hyannis.
The motorcycle operator failed to stop for the officer and fled north onto Bearse’s Way, police said. Moments later the driver crashed into a vehicle on Bearse’s Way near Enterprise Road.

The motorcycle driver was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by a Hyannis Fire Department ambulance, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the car hit by the motorcyclist sustained minor injuries in the accident.

This crash is being investigated by the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team. Identities of the people involved, including the motorcycle driver, are being withheld pending further investigation, police said.
