Multi-Car Fire At Barnstable Lot Under Investigation
Six cars were involved in the fire, forcing residents of a nearby apartment to evacuate briefly.
BARNSTABLE, MA — The Barnstable Fire Department is investigating multiple early morning vehicle fires that happened over the weekend.
Officials received a report of the fires at 178 Thorton Dr., in Hyannis, around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 4.
Fire officials arrived to find six cars involved in the fire with conditions that included heavy smoke and flames. The cars were behind a locked fence in a lot belonging to a local towing company.

Officials cut through a locked gate to get to the fire and, at 4 a.m., crews reported that most of the fire was knocked down. By 4:13 a.m. the fire was extinguished.
The fire forced an evacuation at a nearby apartment building, but no one was injured and the apartment wasn't damaged.
