Nantucket High School Lockdown Was 'False Alarm'

The superintendent said a panic button was triggered at the school, sending the rest of the district into a lockout.

NANTUCKET, Ma — Nantucket High School was locked down and the rest of the district was placed on lockout Friday after a panic button was triggered at the high school, according to Superintendent W. Michael Cozort.

In a message to families, Cozort said the students are safe. The lockdown was lifted after 2 p.m.

Cozort said a "false alarm" triggered the panic button, but "the care and safety of our students is our primary consideration and all events of this nature are taken seriously."
