Nantucket's First Pot Shop Opens This Weekend

It is the state's first marijuana dispensary located off the mainland.

NANTUCKET, MA — The first Massachusetts marijuana shop selling product off the mainland is set to open this weekend. The Green Lady Dispensary, located on Nantucket, will open Sunday, Aug. 11.

The recreational pot dispensary received a notice to commence operations from the Cannabis Control Commission Wednesday and must wait three days before opening. It grows, manufactures and sells its own products and promises Nantucket strains that can't be found anywhere else.

Federal law has previously made it tricky for islanders to get pot. According to the Boston Globe, traveling through federal waters or flying to the island with pot is still illegal.
