New Cape Cod Rail Trail Bridge Inches Closer To Opening: Report

YARMOUTH, MA — In a few weeks, a new bridge that's been in the works for more than a decade will arrive in the area of Willow Street in West Yarmouth, according to a report.

The bridge for cyclists and pedestrians will provide the first uninterrupted Cape Cod Rail Trail connection between Yarmouth and Barnstable, according to The Cape Cod Times.

The steel bridge is expected to be lifted over the four-lane roadway and nearby Ramp 6, marking a major milestone, the newspaper reported.

The project began in 2013, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation completed the final design in 2024, according to The Cape Cod Times.
