News Media & Politicians Hiding Ocean Wind Port Finances

Massachusetts Renewable Energy Failures - Wind Turbines

Folks, In 2012 the taxpayers of Massachusetts were told the cost of the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal was 35 million. The news media ( Liberal Press ) & our state officials are sweeping the cost of the South Terminal ocean wind port under the rug.

Ask yourself if this project is coming out under bid ? If it was it would be the headlines. The project has a long list of problems. A hurricane gate with only a 120 foot clearance, tug boat operators complaining the channel is not wide enough, an AM antenna has to be moved off 4 acres of the project, minority workers were never hired to meet guidelines, a special barge has to be built to get into New Bedford Harbor, railroad is still 2000 feet away, Cape Wind signed a lease with Quonset Point, Rhode Island, New Bedford only has a federal permit for three maintenance boats  and what else don’t we know ?

Taxpayers have NO idea in the world how much this project is costing you ! How much is coming out of your pocket this time ?

MR. CABRAL: Good evening. For the record, I’m state representative Tony Carbal. I’m the state representative for this part of the city where the South Terminal Project is located. I want you to know thatI’ve been a strong supporter of this project from day one. We’ve been working very closely for a couple of years now to secure and move this project forward. We helped secure along with the administration the funding the initial funding which is not –- it’s 35 million dollars that has been already set aside for this project, capital money, bond money for this project. Will it need more? Perhaps it will depending on the design and depending on what the project will eventually be used for.
