BARNSTABLE, MA — Blue-green algae blooms in two Barnstable ponds have prompted state officials to advise the public to avoid swimming in the water.
Long Pond in Marstons Mills and Parker Pond in Barnstable are part of the advisory, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
People and animals can become sick if they ingest water with cyanobacterial blooms, better known as blue-green algae.
