'Once-In-A-Lifetime Shot' Of Shark Taken Off Cape Cod

TRURO, MA — Mike Lemery's Labor Day weekend trip to Cape Cod gave him a one-in-a-million opportunity. Fortunately, as a wildlife photographer, he was able to seize it.

On his blog, Lemery wrote that he and his fiancée were at Head of the Meadow Beach when he heard a woman yell, "Get out of the water!" A man told him he saw a shark for the first time in the decade he had been coming to the Cape.

At first, Lemery snapped a few photos of a fin his fiancée pointed out in the water. Then she saw something by a sailboat in the distance, prompting Lemery to swing his camera around.

"As I’m acquiring focus of the area a great white shark jumps out of the water with the boat in the background," Lemery wrote. "It was amazing and a once in a lifetime shot."
