Over $200K Raised For Marine Killed In Cape Cod Crash

Thousands have contributed to the family of a Marine struck while driving home from the hospital, where his wife had recently given birth.

COTUIT, MA – More than 3,000 people have contributed to a GoFundMe campaign for the family of Kevin Quinn, a Marine killed in a head-on crash in Cotuit Saturday morning. Quinn, a 32-year-old combat veteran who served two tours in Afghanistan, was on his way home from visiting his wife in the hospital at the time of the crash. His wife, Kara, had given birth days earlier.

A GoFundMe page for the Quinn family had raised over $203,000 as of 10:30 p.m. Monday. Click here to contribute.

Authorities are investigating the events leading up to the fatal collision on Rt. 28 East. Scanner reports before the crash indicate a police officer had begun pursuing a sedan for multiple traffic violations, according to the Cape Cod Times.

A 2000 Toyota sedan and Quinn's 2012 GMC SUV collided around 12:14 a.m. Saturday morning. The sedan caught fire and split in half, throwing both people from the car. The driver, 22-year-old Mickey Rivera, of Fall River, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, 24-year-old Jocelyn Goyette, of New Bedford, remained in a Boston hospital in critical condition Sunday, the Cape Cod Times reported.

Quinn was extricated from his car using the Jaws of Life and taken to the hospital, where he later died.
