Owner Accidentally Shot Himself At Cape Cod Gym

A man who accidentally shot himself in the leg Saturday at a Cape Cod gym has been identified as the owner.

ORLEANS, MA – The man who shot himself in the leg Saturday at a Cape Cod gym was its owner, according to a Facebook post. James Hoffman, 48, is the owner of Fitness Revolution in Orleans. An attorney for his family told the Cape Cod Times he accidentally fired his gun in his office at the gym, hitting himself in the lower part of his right leg.

Hoffman was in stable condition when he was flown to a Boston hospital, the Times reported. His attorney said it is properly registered and permitted.

"We want to thank everyone for their care and concern over the last few days," Hoffman's family wrote on the Fitness Revolution Facebook page. "Jamie was involved in an unfortunate accident that occurred in our office. He has sustained an injury to his lower leg."
