Police Hunting for 'Most Wanted' Cape Cod Man Charged in Stabbing, Shooting

William Benton, 22, is wanted for attempted murder and assault. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-800-527-8873.

Authorities are appealing to the public to help catch a suspect charged with shooting at a man in Hyannis and stabbing another man in Yarmouth.

William Benton, 22, is wanted for attempted murder and assault, among other charges.

Police said on April 18, he stabbed another man during an argument at a home in Yarmouth. The victim survived after emergency surgery.

Then on May 10, 2014, police said Benton fired a gun at a man during an argument at Keyes Memorial Beach in Hyannis. The man he shot at had a child with him, police said. No one was hurt.

Benton was living in Mashpee at the time of the crimes. He has ties throughout the Cape, including Yarmouth, Hyannis, and Falmouth.

He’s white, 5 feet, 7 inches, and about 145 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, a scar on his left cheek, and several tattoos—the grim reaper on his back and a flower, frog, and flag on his left forearm.
