BARNSTABLE, MA – A veteran of the Barnstable Police Department retired Friday after more than four decades of service. Det. Reid Hall attended his final roll call at 7:45 a.m.

Over the course of his 44-year career, Hall served as a juvenile detective and later as a school resource officer at Barnstable High School. He was a career-long member of the Barnstable Police Honor Guard and made countless appearances at parades, ceremonies and events.

He walked his old foot beat along Main Street from Ocean to Sea Street Friday morning.

"Reid has been an icon within the Barnstable Police Department, Barnstable High School, and our community at large," the department said Friday.
