Remaining Charges Dropped In Hyannis Hotel Rape Case
Charges were dropped against two men, including one who was arrested at gunpoint with two children in the car.
HYANNIS, MA — Charges were dropped against two Cape Cod men accused of aggravated rape and other charges at a Hyannis hotel in 2021.
First reported by the Cape Cod Times, Daishawn Williams, 20, of Hyannis, and Jarius McWilliams, 20, of South Yarmouth, had aggravated rape charges dropped on March 10. The remaining charges of assault and battery and larceny were dropped this week.
According to the Cape and Islands District Attorney, charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence and memory deficiencies of the accuser. That person was also only recently located by state officials, making it challenging for them to get her testimony.

Video of the arrest was posted by Tanya Devine, Williams' mother, who said she feared for her and her children's lives at the time.
"I'm nervous right now for my life," Devine says in the video, as officers ask her to step back while three officers hold their guns up.
The video ends with a police officer ordering Devin to get down on her knees, while another officer takes her phone.
