Man With 91 Priors Wanted In Attack On Cape Cod Officer

PROVINCETOWN, MA – A man known to law enforcement on Cape Cod is sought in connection with an attack on a Provincetown police officer, according to a CapeCod.com report. Darren Devine, 27, assaulted an officer in a building on Pearl Street Friday morning, according to police.

Devine hit the officer in the face when he attempted to arrest him, police said. Another officer struck Devine with a taser, but he fled the scene, according to police.

Devine, who is believed to be homeless, was out on bail on charges of breaking and entering in Wellfleet in December, CapeCod.com reported. He did not show up for a pretrial hearing Tuesday morning.

Devine's criminal record dates back to at least 2010 and includes charges in Yarmouth and Hyannis, according to CapeCod.com. He has a previous conviction for assaulting a police officer.

Police departments on Cape Cod urged residents to be on the lookout for Devine this week. Yarmouth police said Devine has a "long violent criminal history in Massachusetts" with 91 priors.
