Hit-And-Run
An 8-year-old boy was flown to a Boston hospital on Saturday after he was injured in a hit-and-run crash while riding a scooter, Yarmouth police said.
Police and fire officials responded to the scene on Higgins Crowell Road around 9:45 a.m. on Saturday. Officials say the crash happened north of Abells Road near the Professional Building complex.
Callers reported that the child was struck while riding the scooter and the driver didn't stop after the crash, driving southbound in what witnesses describe as an SUV, possibly a Mercedes-Benz, toward Route 28.
Two bystanders were giving first aid to the boy when officers arrived, they said. He was treated for serious injury, but was transported to Cape Cod Hospital before being flown to Boston via med-flight, police said.
