Sharks Close Cape Cod Beach 4 Times In 3 Days

A Cape Cod beach that closed for an hour following a shark sighting Friday has seen its fair share of closures this week alone.

ORLEANS, MA — A beach in Orleans was closed for an hour following a great white shark sighting Friday, but it shouldn't have been news to regular beachgoers. Swimmers were ordered out of the water at Nauset Beach after a shark was seen preying on a seal about 100 yards offshore, according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.

This is the fourth time since Wednesday the beach has closed for an hour due to a shark sighting, the Boston Globe reported.

The beach was scheduled to reopen at 11:50 a.m. barring any new sightings.
