Stolen Car From Barnstable Tracked Down Near Bourne Bridge

Multiple people are in custody after the vehicle was stopped in Bourne early Monday morning. Here's what to know.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A vehicle that was reported stolen out of Barnstable was spotted on Monday morning in Bourne, and arrests were made in the case.

At 5:55 a.m., the Bourne Police Department saw the black Hyundai Santa Fe and stopped the driver on the on-ramp from the East Rotary in Buzzards Bay to the Bourne Bridge, with assistance from officers from Barnstable and the Massachusetts State Police.

Bourne officials said all occupants of the car were taken into custody "without incident" and were transferred to Barnstable police custody.

In what officials say is unrelated, the driver of the car was taken to an area hospital for an "unrelated illness."

Barnstable police are investigating.
