Transformer Explosion on Cape Cod Knocks Out Power to 10,000

DENNIS, MA — A transformer explosion in Dennis Tuesday knocked out power to thousands in the area.

The explosion happened at about 4 p.m. on Route 134. About 10,000 Eversource customers in Dennis and Yarmouth lost power. Power was restored to most customers by 8:30 p.m.

The outage affected homes, business, and traffic lights.
