Barnstable Convict Caught By K-9 Team
Brian J. Wells, 42, of Barnstable, was charged with stealing money.

A Barnstable convict “well-known” to local police was arrested by a K9 team Saturday after allegedly stealing money from someone’s wallet near Ocean Street in Hyannis.
Police said at about 1:15 a.m., several people flagged down an officer, saying Brian J. Wells, 42, of Barnstable, stole from one of their wallets and ran away.
Barnstable K-9 officer Sean Roycroft said he then saw Wells on Main Street and promptly took him into custody.

Police said in 2013, Wells was convicted of assault and battery and served 18 months in jail.
