Woman, Ferret Rescued After Car Crashes Into Water In Wareham

Fire officials rescued a woman and her pet ferret after she accidentally drove off a bridge in Wareham.

WAREHAM, MA — A woman and her pet ferret were rescued after she accidentally drove off a bridge into a water-filled ravine Thursday night. Fire officials found the car on its side off Barker Road with the woman and her pet trapped inside.

Emergency crews cut through the windshield to extricate the woman and the ferret from the car. The woman was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment after suffering non life-threatening injuries.

The ferret was not injured during the crash and was taken in by Wareham Animal Control.
