Alumna Starts Career in Accounting with Help From Middlesex CC
Jackie Krozy came to MCC to give herself a competitive edge.

Jackie Krozy came to Middlesex Community College to give herself a competitive edge. Her interest in Middlesex stemmed from the appeal of an associate degree in Business Administration, the value of the MassTransfer system, and her desire to attend a college with a diverse student body and strong support systems in place.
A first generation student from Needham, Krozy graduated from MCC in December 2015 and transferred to UMass Lowell where she graduated magna cum laude in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting. After working for two years, Krozy started her master’s in Taxation from Bentley University. She will graduate in the summer of 2021 and begin working as a Tax Associate for a company in Boston. MCC was her starting point.
“MCC helped me develop the confidence that I needed to succeed in my university and current graduate studies,” she said. “During my education at MCC, I was provided many opportunities to lead, teach other students and work in teams – which have been invaluable towards leading others in accounting.”

Calling her experience at Middlesex “wonderful and memorable,” Krozy found success in building connections with her professors, taking high-quality courses that prepared her for her future academic and work experiences, and taking advantage of teamwork and leadership opportunities. The combination of all of these now helps her in her role as Diversity and Inclusion Manager for the Graduate Student Association at Bentley.
Two Business Administration professors in particular offered encouragement and helped her gain confidence in her work. Dr. James Dottin, Department Chair of Business Administration & Economics, helped her grow into a leader by assigning relevant coursework and guiding her in her role as President of the ePortfolio club. Barbara Noonan was Krozy’s career mentor and sparked her interest in accounting.

It was her first Introduction to Business course with Dr. Dottin that helped her realize she had made the right choice of a major. In her next semester, she took Financial Accounting with Professor Noonan and was inspired to go into accounting. Calling the course life-changing, six years into her educational journey, Krozy still loves what she does.
“I chose to pursue a business degree because I have always been fascinated with numbers,” she said. “Upon becoming an adult and living independently, I have developed a passion for managing finances and budgeting, which motivated me to pursue a degree in business and then study accounting.”
In all of her classes she learned relevant and valuable skills that helped her succeed both at Middlesex and in her bachelor’s and advanced degrees. The knowledge she learned at MCC – including in teaching her classmates mathematics, accounting and business as a peer tutor for the Academic Centers for Enrichment (ACE) – enhanced her resume and honed her talents for being a leader in her field.
In addition to tutoring, Krozy worked as a student note taker. She was Vice President of Phi Theta Kappa, MCC’s honors society, and participated in a number of student events throughout her time at the college. She is especially grateful for participating in MCC’s TRIO Student Success Program as she was able to form lasting friendships and discover her place at the college.
She said, “I recommend MCC especially for students who want to make a smart move towards investing in their future studies and who want to make life-long friendships and professional connections.”
