Amid Pandemic, MCC Offers Financial Incentives to Help Students

MCC wants to help ease costs and ensure students remain on their paths by offering financial savings

As part of Middlesex Community College’s commitment to student success, the college strives to make a quality education accessible to all. Middlesex understands students are suffering financial repercussions from COVID-19, but the college also knows the importance of starting – or continuing – an education now. MCC wants to help ease costs and ensure students remain on their paths by offering financial savings.

Qualifying students may receive 50 percent off a first course if they sign up by September 10.

One 50 percent off incentive aims to help students who were laid-off due to the pandemic and need assistance. The second 50 percent off incentive celebrates the college’s 50th anniversary and welcomes new students to MCC. Students who have completed 45 credits at MCC but have not taken classes recently may also qualify for a completion scholarship.

“MCC is offering incentives to our students to reduce the cost of attending during the Fall semester,” said Dr. James C. Mabry, MCC’s President. “We understand that the pandemic has had a severe financial impact on many of our students and the college is doing all we can to keep them on the path to educational success.”

At Middlesex, students do not need to put their education or needs on hold. The college offers personalized financial aid counseling, payment plans, flexible course formats and a supportive community. MCC can guide students towards the best financial options for them, including applying for grants, scholarships, work studies and loans.

“MCC is committed to making college accessible as the need for education that is affordable is more important than ever with the pandemic,” said Frank Nocella, MCC’s Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer. “Community colleges – and Middlesex in particular – are invaluable, offering students opportunities to start their education or work towards a new career without racking up debt. Our incentive is another way MCC puts students and their successes first, helping them jumpstart the next chapter in their professional and personal lives.”

MCC does high-quality, affordable online learning best and in these unpredictable times, the college is an asset to learners of all ages with a variety of needs. Traditional-aged college students, high schoolers, adult learners and those laid-off or furloughed due to the pandemic can save thousands on tuition costs, get more for their money, and reach their goals faster.

Students can then move into the workforce for jobs in high-demand industries or transfer credits to a four-year college or university as a second semester freshman or higher – depending on how much time was spent at MCC.
