Middlesex Community College can help students level up their education this summer. Featuring a variety of flexible and affordable classes, the Summer 2026 semester schedule allows students to get a head start on completing their degree, certificate or industry credential.

“Summer courses give students the opportunity to stay on track or get ahead in their academic journey,” said Kori Boeckler, MCC’s Public Health Informatics and Technology (PHIT) Program Coordinator. “Because summer sessions are typically shorter and more focused, students can immerse themselves in key subjects and build momentum toward completing their degree. For PHIT students specifically, summer learning can be especially valuable because it allows them to continuously develop skills without interruption, helping them retain knowledge and apply it more effectively in future coursework or training opportunities.”

MCC’s PHIT classes provide students with a strong foundation in one of the fastest-growing areas of healthcare and technology, according to Boeckler. Focusing on hands-on, practical experiences, MCC’s program gets students ready for the workforce. By completing classes over the summer, students can finish their education and begin their careers earlier.

Teaching students more about medical terms and how to break them down for better understanding, Middlesex will also offer a Medical Terminology class in the summer. The online course provides students with opportunities to practice and engage in interactive activities. There is also flexibility for students to complete the work at times that are convenient for them.

“Summer courses are a great opportunity to earn college credits outside of the regular academic year,” said Jennifer Mason, MCC’s Assistant Professor and Medical Assisting Program Coordinator. “The luxury of online is that you can still take the summer vacation, as long as there is internet access, and the ability to participate in the course. [Taking Medical Terminology in the summer] is a great entry course for anyone looking to start their education with a focus on healthcare.”

MCC faculty member Matthew Rondeau will teach a Data Science with R course this summer. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of the field and gain hands-on experience working with real-world data sets. The skills learned in this course are transferable to many subjects, making it a great choice for a summer class, according to Rondeau.

“The course is designed to be flexible while still providing structure,” Rondeau said. “Because it is self-paced within a set timeline, students can work ahead or adjust their schedule if they have vacations or other commitments. This makes it a great option for students who want to stay on track or get ahead without sacrificing their summer plans.”

Summer offers students the perfect opportunity to jumpstart academic plans, finish general education requirements, earn transferable college credits, and update skills with professional development. Course options include a variety of subjects, such as the liberal arts, business, social science, legal studies and public service, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).

Beginning Monday, June 1, MCC’s Summer Quickstart will run for three weeks through Thursday, June 18. Also starting June 1, Summer Session One will run through Thursday. July 2 for five weeks, and Summer Session Two will run through Tuesday, July 28 for eight weeks. Offering a later start, Summer Session Three will take place from Monday, July 13 to Thursday, August 13 for five weeks.
