MCC Staff Are Getting Students Ready for Fall

Middlesex Community College is getting prospective and current students ready for the Fall 2026 semester. Staff across the college are offering on-campus and online assistance for everything from registering for classes to getting help with financial aid. Classes start Tuesday, September 8.

"We're looking forward to the fall and are available collegewide to help students prepare for the upcoming semester," said Dr. Sue Maggioni, MCC's Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. "By registering now, students have the time to access resources and build connections that will provide them with the strongest start possible. Students who register ahead of the Fall semester can take full advance of MCC's Orientation Plus. This includes an online orientation video and a First Year Experience (FYE) one-credit course offered in August. During the FYE, students can explore a field of interest, as well as get to know the college, campuses and community. Students also have the opportunity to meet classmates, faculty and staff before their first official day.

Throughout the summer, MCC is hosting open hours to help new and current students register for classes. Swoop Into MCC sessions are available for accepted students, while Walk-in Wednesdays allow current students to access resources. Both sessions have an opportunity to connect with staff from across the college to have their questions answered.

During the sessions, students will be able to complete all their enrollment steps, submit their placement, and register for classes at times that best fit their schedules. Students will also be able to submit their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Eligible MassEducate and MassReconnect students can also register for Fall classes. The programs allow all Massachusetts residents who have not yet earned a bachelor's degree to attend MCC for free with no tuition or fees for eligible students.

Swoop Into MCC sessions will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon to 1:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Students can attend Walk-in Wednesdays to learn more about meeting with their academic advisor to review their path and access MCC's free academic support services, including tutoring. No appointments are needed from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays over the summer in MCC's Bedford Enrollment Center.

"The sooner students register, the earlier we can package their financial aid, get the books they need for classes, and start to identify where their fall classes will take place," said Kayla Caron, MCC's Dean of Enrollment. "If students attempt to register for full classes, we can better respond to enrollment demand by opening new sections for students taking advantage of course waitlists. It benefits the students to get their classes and schedules set in stone as soon as possible. Students can than focus on other things to ensure their success."

The Fall 2026 semester begins on Tuesday, September 8. While Fall Mini-mester I begins the same day, MCC's Fall Mini-mester II will start later in the semester on Monday, November 2.
