Bedford Boys Tennis Goes for Sectional Title on Sunday

Bedford will face off against Weston in Burlington.

The Bedford High boys tennis team are the eighth seed in the MIAA Division 3 North tournament, but they sit just one win away from winning the sectional tournament.

The Buccaneers will face off against the third seed Weston High at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at Rahanis Park in Burlington.

Bedford finished the year at 11-7, but has already knocked off the number one seed Manchester Essex, which had an undefeated regular season, the fourth seed Hamilton-Wenham High, which only lost three times in the regular season, and Lynnfield High in the tournament.

So far, Bedford High is 14-1 during the tournament.

Bedford would need to beat another top team on Sunday. Weston finished the regular season 15-2. They swept past the number two seed Swampscott 5-0 in the semifinal.

The winner of Sunday’s matches will not have much time to savor the victory. The MIAA state tournament will kick off at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Newton North High School.
