Bedford Dog Park Under Consideration

A task force has been formed to explore the possibility of a town dog park.

BEDFORD, MA – The town of Bedford has formed an ad hoc task force to explore the possibility of developing a dog park in town. The Dog Park Task Force, comprised of 11 members appointed by the Board of Selectmen, will evaluate and debate pre-determined locations suitable for an off-leash, fenced-in dog park.

The task force will perform initial site evaluations to determine the feasibility and costs of developing various sites to use as a dog park. It will also address the amenities necessary for a fully functional park, develop a cost analysis and determine structure, such as size, parking, fencing, water and shelter.

Finally, the group will be tasked with determining funding needs and sources for the construction and maintenance of the dog park and, with the approval of selectmen, assist with grant applications.
