Sgt. Waite’s promotion was effective Sept. 18.

In 2018, Sgt. Waite was one of five Bedford officers honored for their heroism in saving the life of a fellow Bedford officer who suffered a heart attack.

“Sgt. Waite has shown quiet leadership throughout his career, stepping up whenever there is a need in the Department,” Chief Bongiorno said. “He has used his skills for more than community policing, from coordinating fleet and radio purchases to tackling any IT issues that arise. He is an excellent problem-solver. I look forward to seeing Sgt. Waite in this new role.”
