Bedford Police Log: Dog Left in Hot Car, Tree Branches Cause Problems

The following information was provided by the Bedford Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

July 19

A woman found an injured dog in her backyard. Police contacted the owner who picked up the collie, which limped because of age.

A caller reported a dog left in a car at Super Stop & Shop with the windows up. The temperature was in the 80s at the time. Police talked to the owner about the dangers of leaving a dog in a closed car.

Smoke was seen coming from under some mulch at 2000 Taylor Pond Lane. Bedford Firefighters responded and found there was a cigarette under the mulch.

Several callers reported a transformer blew on the Great Road, but when the Fire Department checked it out, the transformer had not tripped and wires were not down.

July 20

A tree branch fell in the roadway on Carlisle Road. An officer was able to push it to the side of the road.

A caller reported something melting and dripping from a transformer on Curve Road. A branch had fallen on the wires and it burned through the wire, but there was no hazard.
