Bedford Police Log: Explosive Turns Out to be Vegetation

The following information was provided by the Bedford Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Sept. 20

At 12:47 a.m., a Lido Lane resident called police about a vehicle parked at the end of the street for two days. Police issued an overnight parking warning.

At 6:14 a.m., police responded to North Road after a motorist struck a deer. DPW removed the deer.

At 7:26 a.m., police responded to Great Road concerning a car accident. One person was taken to an area hospital and both cars were towed.

At 5:29 p.m., police received a call from Great Road about a person sitting in a parked car for several minutes. Employees of a bank were uneasy about leaving. An officer spoke to the man, who was waiting for a family member.

At 10:30 p.m., a Bedford Village resident reported an unknown object, possibly dynamite or a firework, outside a building. An officer responded and found it was not an explosive, but was actually vegetation.

At 11:37 p.m., an officer spotted a car parked at the back of Shawsheen Cemetery. Police called the owner of the vehicle who said his daughter had the car. Police spoke to the daughter who said she was camping in the woods with her boyfriend.

Saturday, Sept. 21

At 7:34 a.m., a Roberts Drive resident called police to report vandalism to a vehicle.

At 11:42 a.m., a Wayland resident who was attending Bedford Day dropped off keys she found at the station. The keys’ owner picked up the keys.

At 11:45 a.m., an officer found a iPhone along the Bedford Day parade route. He called “Mom” on the contacts. The owner picked up the phone.

At 1:21 p.m., a person reported being bitten by a dog in the Clark Conservation area.

At 3:55 p.m., a Pine Street resident reported a bike was stolen from a home.

At 6:07 p.m., police received a call concerning a person in a wheelchair traveling against traffic on Great Road. An officer responded and found the person’s wheelchair’s batter was dead. He drove the woman home.

At 9:54 p.m., police received a call of people possibly smoking marijuana on Great Road. An officer found the people were smoking small cigars – not marijuana.

Sunday, Sept. 22

At 5 a.m., police and fire responded to Great Road concerning a small fire behind a building. Firefighters extinguished the small mulch fire.

At 1:27 p.m., police received a call about a motorist putting vodka into a coffee cup. Police drove to the car owner’s home, but no one was home.
