Bedford Postpones Spring Curbside Yard Waste Pickup
Many yards are expected to be covered in snow for longer this year.

BEDFORD, MA – The Bedford Department of Public Works is postponing spring curbside yard waste collection as many yards are expected to be covered in snow for longer this year, officials said. Curbside yard waste collection will now take place the week of April 23-27. The Bedford Compost Center at 108 Carlisle Rd. will be open for the season on Wednesday, April 18 at 8:30 a.m.
"The DPW moved one of the weeks of curbside yard waste collection from the fall to spring last year to help residents with their spring cleanup," Ed McGrath, recycling coordinator, said in a statement. "But given the weather, we don’t think folks will get to their yard work for a couple of weeks and our feeling is it will be more convenient to people if we push the collection back until after School Vacation week."
The Compost Center will be open on selected Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. starting April 18 and selected Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting April 21. Each resident will receive a copy of the 2018 Compost Center schedule in the mail.
