Body Found In Bedford ID'd, Death Considered Suspicious

Boy Scouts found the man's body alongside the Concord River last month. Police are now asking for information.

BEDFORD, MA – Authorities have identified the body found last month in Bedford by a group of Boy Scouts and are calling the death "suspicious," Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Bedford Police Chief Robert Bongiorno announced Thursday.

Richard W. Kandrotas, 79, was believed to have been homeless and living in Cambridge. His body was located May 13 by Boy Scouts leaning up trash near the Carlisle Street Boat Ramp along the Concord River located off Route 225. The Boy Scouts spotted something suspicious along the embankment and police located the body.

The body Kandrotas appears to have ended up in that location after his death, which is being considered suspicious. The cause of death is pending.
