Busy Bedford Sunday: Busted Pipe Evacuated Bedford Apartment Building

All 30 units had to be evacuated as power was shut off during a stormy Sunday.

A sprinkler pipe burst in an apartment building forcing an evacuation, Bedford Police Chief David Grunes said.

Firefighters arrived at 6000 Taylor Pond Ln. around 9 p.m. to find a burst pipe in the attic. Water was flowing through the light fixtures and walls of the 30-unit building.

Water and some power was shut off; six units were affected. The property owner relocated the residents of those six units for the night, a release said.

Grunes talked up property management company The Bozzuto Group for the quick response and finding warm accommodations for residents.

The Bedford Fire Department reported "four serious incidents, several traffic matters, and the usual alarms and medical calls that are encountered without a major storm bearing down on the region," the release said.
