Car Crashes Into Utility Pole In Bedford; 1 Injured
The Monday morning crash on Hartwell Road left many residents without power.

BEDFORD, MA – A car knocked down a utility pole in Bedford, leaving several residents without power Monday morning, police said. Bedford police responded to the area of 25 Hartwell Road around 9:20 a.m. for a report of a downed utility pole.
Upon arrival, emergency crews found a white Nissan sedan on its roof. Police believe the car, driven by a 22-year-old Connecticut man, was traveling east on Hartwell Road when it struck the pole and flipped over. The driver was transported to an area hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.
He was the sole occupant of the vehicle, according to police.

There were multiple small transformer fires nearby as a result of the crash, which caused power outages in the area. Hartwell Road remains closed between Independence Road and South Road while crews assess the damage and make repairs. It is unclear at this time how many homes are without power, police said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
