Compost Center Opening For Bedford Residents
Residents will also be able to drop off yard waste on the compost pile.

Beginning this upcoming Saturday, April 18, 2020, the Department of Public Works is temporarily opening the Compost Center for two weeks to give Bedford residents an outlet for the tree debris generated from the Monday, April 13, 2020 storm. Residents will also be able to drop off yard waste on the compost pile.

The Compost Center, at 108 Carlisle Road, will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Saturday through May 2. The Compost Center is open to Bedford residents only. Commercial vehicles and businesses are prohibited from using the site.

For compost pile, in Paper bags - Leaves, grass clippings, garden clippings, pine needles and branches less than one inch in diameter.
For Brush Drop - Tree branches larger than one inch in diameter (not exceeeding 3-foot in length) can be put in the brush pile.
Unacceptable Materials: Plastic bags, Rocks, Sand, Soil, construction debris
To promote social distancing, the DPW is staggering the schedule using an odd/even household number system to control the number of vehicles that enter the site.
- On Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, residents from ODD numbered households can come to the site.
- On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, residents from EVEN numbered households can come to the site.
- The Compost Center will be open to ALL residents from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
