Coronavirus: Bedford Public Schools Respond To School Closures

BEDFORD, MA — Gov. Charlie Baker's announcement Tuesday afternoon that Massachusetts schools will be closed through the end of the school year didn't come as a big surprise to many districts but forced many to adjust to the new reality.

Bedford Public Schools updated the community on Tuesday, saying the district has been preparing and discussing the possibility of schools being closed for the rest of the year due to the new coronavirus pandemic.

"We will now focus our attention on this new reality relative to its implications for remote learning, graduation, etc. As well, in the superintendents' weekly chat with the Commissioner this morning; he shared that a clarification of the guidelines for the last day of school calculation will be coming out at the end of this week," the district wrote in a statement to the community.

The district said parents have raised questions about how the district and schools are coordinating during the pandemic. Principals and faculty are in constant communication with their leadership teams and the district leadership team meet at least twice a week, the district responded.

As of today Tuesday there have been a total of 95 positive cases of COVID-19 and three deaths reported in Bedford.
