Bedford Police recovered a 4 to 5-foot boa constrictor from Shawsheen Road on Saturday evening.
Police responded at about 6:25 p.m. for a report of a large snake in the roadway. An officer found that the boa constrictor, which was struck by a vehicle and died from its injuries.
Police believe the snake was dumped along the road or may have escaped from a nearby residence.
Bedford Police notified the Massachusetts Environmental Police and a reptile expert helped in the removal and storage of the snake.
