Get On Track with MCC’s Flexible Options & Affordable Prices
Starting on Monday, March 27, Mini-mester II offers a variety of degree, certificate and industry credential options

Students hoping to advance in their careers have the perfect opportunity to jumpstart their education with Middlesex Community College’s Spring 2023 Mini-mester II. Starting on Monday, March 27, Mini-mester II offers a variety of degree, certificate and industry credential options that will provide students with the knowledge to develop their professional skills.
With over 80 certificate and degree options – and five new micro-credential offerings – Middlesex offers a selection of program pathways that will help students enter the workforce in in-demand industries across Massachusetts.
“Already a leader of educating the local workforce, micro-credentials are an additional way for Middlesex to help students get the job they want,” said Scott O’Neil, MCC’s Dean of Enrollment Services. “With micro-credentials, students can take advantage of focused and specific professional and personal development skill training to get them into a new industry or advance in their field. These quick and stackable courses are designed with insight from local workforce and industry partners and taught by college professors and experts in these fields.”

Starting for the first time during Spring Mini-mester II, MCC has five specialized micro-credential trainings in Communications and Business. Offered in three, eight-week bundles – or nine credit hours – micro-credentials provide students with specific knowledge to meet the career qualifications of leading employers in the state.
This semester’s offerings include Media Studies, Media Writing, Communication Skills, Culinary Skills and Restaurant Supervisor. Upon successful completion, students will earn a digital badge that can be shared on LinkedIn, as well as have an official college transcript for documentation.

MCC’s Mini-mester II offers accelerated eight-week courses that cover the same content, maintain the same academic standards, and offer the same number of instructional hours as courses scheduled during the traditional 15-week semester.
To help students fit education into their schedules, a selection of classes are offered on-campus, online, hybrid and hyflex to be taken during the day, evening and weekends. Combined with the more affordable price of community college, Mini-mesters can save students thousands in tuition by allowing students to take more classes in a shorter amount of time.
“Time and money matters when it comes to getting an education,” O’Neil said. “Mini-mesters not only offer students a lot of flexibility, they are a low-risk, high-reward option to get on the path to reaching goals.”
