“While this is still an active and ongoing investigation, we believe this defendant took part in a home invasion in Bedford and participated in an assault on three people who were inside,” Ryan said in a release. “Those victims are still recovering from their injuries which included a victim being shot.”

Proeung and two other men allegedly broke into a Bedford home on North Road around 2 a.m. Wednesday, reportedly looking for drugs. They allegedly shot a man in the home and beat two others. All three were hospitalized and treated for serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Police have said they are zeroing in on the remaining two suspects.

“This was an extremely unusual incident for Bedford. Bedford is a safe, family-oriented town that consistently ranks as one of the safest communities in the nation,” Police Chief Bongiorno said. “So when someone decides to violate the peace of the evening in our community, we will act very swiftly and aggressively to send a message that this kind of behavior will simply not be tolerated.”
